Murdah Bongz - Biography, Career and Discography

Bongani Mohosana, known professionally as Mörda or Murdah Bongz, is a 37-year-old South African DJ and music producer. He is widely recognized for his previous role as a member of the band Black Motion.

Early Life

Bongani Mohosana was born on June 9, 1987, in Pretoria, South Africa. From a young age, he was passionate about music. He joined the church choir, where he learned to play musical instruments and sing. Over time, he honed his skills as a music composer, dancer, and vocalist.

Career

In 2009, Bongani Mohosana and Thabo Mabogwane, also known as Smol, started a band called Black Motion. Bongani adopted the stage name Murdah Bongz. They gained popularity in 2011 with their album *Talking to the Drums*. Eventually, both members decided to go solo, and Murdah Bongz changed his name to Mörda.

In 2022, Mörda released his first solo album, *Asante*, named after his daughter. In September 2023, he announced his second album, *Asante II*, which was set to release on September 29, 2023. The album's lead single, "Burning Bush," featuring Thakzin and Ihhashi Elimhlophe, came out on September 8, 2023. 

Mörda's extended play, *CR4ZY*, was released on June 7, 2024, and features Brenden Praise, Lusanda, Mpho.Wav, and Kwamzy.

Personal Life and Controversies

Bongani Mohosana married DJ and producer DJ Zinhle in 2022. They went public with their relationship in 2021, after keeping it private for some time. Their first daughter, Asante, was born in September 2021.

In December 2022, Mörda was accused of taking recording studio equipment from Black Motion's business premises and causing damage to a door and other property. Mörda’s legal team responded, stating that the equipment in question actually belonged to Spirit Motion, a business co-owned by Mörda and Thabo Smol.
