Izel Bezuidenhout - Biography, Career and Films

Izel Bezuidenhout, born on 25 November 1998, is a South African actress who embarked on her career from a young age. Her notable roles in international cinema include performances in the films Flatland (2019) and Wild is the Wind (2022).

Early Life

Originally from Pretoria, Izel Bezuidenhout's father Hannes is a pastor, and her mother is Lucia. Izel will be 26 years old in 2024. She attended Hoërskool Eldoraigne in Centurion for her schooling. In 2012, she participated in a summer school program at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Later, she furthered her training with a six-month acting course in New York.

Career

Izel Bezuidenhout's acting journey began early, securing her first theatre role at eleven and her film debut at fourteen in the 2014 spy thriller Agent 2000: Die Laksman, portraying Chante-Amoré Naudé. The following year, she played a younger version of Charlene Brouwer's lead character in Dis ek, Anna and made her television debut in Bloedbroers.

Following these early successes, Bezuidenhout continued to expand her filmography with roles in Mignon Mossie van Wyk (2016), Bram Fischer, and Vaselinetjie (both 2017). In 2018, she joined the cast of the popular soap opera 7de Laan as Kyla Welman, a role she returned to in 2023.

One of Bezuidenhout's notable film credits includes starring alongside Nicole Fortuin in the 2019 film Flatland, directed by Jenna Bass, which premiered at the Berlinale and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

In 2021 and 2022, Bezuidenhout appeared in the kykNET crime anthology series Spoorloos, featuring in the third season as Giselle in Steynhof and in the fourth season as Emma Eloff opposite Bobby van Jaarsveld in Die Eiland. She had previously met van Jaarsveld as a child at one of his concerts. Additionally, in 2022, she featured in the Netflix film Wild is the Wind.
