Da Capo - Biography, Career and Discography

Da Capo who’s real name is Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa is a South African DJ and record producer born on June 9, 1992. Raised in Seshego, he gained fame after remixing Moneoa's single "Pretty Disaster." Following this, he signed a recording deal with Soulstic Music. His debut studio album, Indigo Child, released in 2017, was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).

Early Life

Da Capo was born on August 14, 1992, in Seshego township Zone 3, Polokwane, South Africa. After completing high school, he enrolled at the University of Limpopo to study media and communication but eventually dropped out. Initially starting his musical journey as a rapper, he later developed an interest in house music. His career in music was inspired by artists such as Jimpster, Nick Holder, and Quinton Harris.

Career

Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa began his music career by signing a record deal with Soulstic Music. His debut studio album, "Indigo Child," was released on December 8, 2017, in South Africa. The album featured collaborations with GoodLuck, Berita, Wanda Baloyi, Jackie Queens, Renee Thompson, Soulsta, Miss Dippy, Tshepo King, and Darian Crouse. "Indigo Child" was certified double platinum and garnered over 36.5 million streams on digital streaming platforms.

In 2020, Da Capo established his independent record label, Genesys Entity, and released his EP "Genesys" in May 2020. The lead single from the EP, "Moyo Wanagu," featured BATUND. On September 3, 2021, he released "Light House" in collaboration with TRESOR and Sun-El Musician.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, Da Capo collaborated with Gallo Records to remix "Imbizo," which appeared on the compilation album "Music is Forever," released on December 17, 2021. On June 23, 2023, he released "Molili," featuring Batundi, Nana Atta, and Lokua Kanza, as the lead single from his EP "Bakone," which was released on July 14, 2023. "Molili" reached No. 29 on the Phalaphala FM Top 30 Chart. The "Bakone" EP is an afro-house record fused with afro-tech and deep house elements and featured collaborations with Batundi, Nana Atta, Lokua Kanza, and Da Africa Deep. On the same day, Da Capo was announced as the Sghubhu cover star by Apple Music.

In February 2024, Da Capo announced two upcoming albums: "Indigo Child II" and "Aquatone Cotton Fabric."
