One of his most notable achievements came during the prestigious 2010 FIFA World Cup, where he was approved by FIFA to produce music. This recognition significantly boosted his profile and showcased his talent on an international stage. In 2013, DJ Kent released his third album, titled 'Weekent,' which was a major success. The album went gold within just a month of its release, demonstrating his popularity and the strong fan base he had built over the years. 'Weekent' helped solidify DJ Kent's status as a leading figure in the South African music scene, and it remains a highlight of his career.

Early Life

Kent, whose real name is Khensani Mabaso, was born in Pimville, Soweto, South Africa. He is a talented club DJ, music producer, and entrepreneur. Kent's journey in music began at a young age when he started experimenting with mixing at home. This early exposure to music mixing laid the foundation for his future career.

Growing up in the vibrant musical environment of Soweto, Kent developed a keen interest in various genres, which greatly influenced his unique style as a DJ. His passion for music and his skillful mixing techniques eventually led him to pursue a career in the music industry, where he quickly made a name for himself as a club DJ. Career

DJ Kent, whose real name is Khensani Mabaso, released his solo debut album in 2007, titled 'Mixing Business with Pleasure Reloaded.' This album marked a significant milestone in his career and solidified his place in the South African music scene. After establishing his unique style of mixing, known as mega mixing, Kent's technique quickly gained popularity and became widely imitated across 12 countries, including Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, and South Africa.

Beyond his success as a DJ, Kent is also an entrepreneur. He, along with his business partner DJ Euphonik, was inspired to open a clothing store in Braamfontein after observing international fashion trends during their world tours. Additionally, Kent founded his own record label, signing notable artists such as Relo from the renowned Skwatta Camp crew and Diamond Dealer from Bloemfontein. 

Throughout his career, DJ Kent has produced several hit songs, earning a reputation as one of South Africa's top music producers. His influence and contributions have left a lasting impact on the industry, cementing his status as a celebrated figure in South African music. At one point, Kent teamed up with Themba Mbongeni Nkosi (Euphonik) and Tumi Mokitlane, forming the group Kentphonik. This collaboration was a pivotal moment in their careers, propelling them to national stardom after signing with 88 Productions in 2005. They released popular tracks like 'Masingita' and 'Uwrongo,' which were featured on DJ Fresh's 'Definition of House' volumes one and two.

Kent's creative abilities have been recognized on numerous occasions. At the 2009 South African Music Awards (SAMA), his work was honored with the Best Urban Dance Album award. In 2010, he won the Best Collaboration award at the Metro FM Awards and also took home the Best Hit Single of the Year award at the same event. His work continued to receive accolades in 2011 and 2012 at the South African Music Awards, where he won Best Urban Dance Album and Best Remix, respectively.
