Early Life

Nkosi was born on December 6, 1983, in Mpumalanga, South Africa. He grew up in Likazi before moving to Klerksdorp and later to Benoni. His early interest in music was influenced by the artists his father enjoyed, such as The Spinners, Marvin Gaye, Stimela, and Hugh Masekela. Euphonik began DJing in his late teens and quickly made a name for himself in the club scene. His mixes soon gained radio play, starting with regional station YFM, which led to him hosting his own shows on the national station 5FM.

Career

Euphonik began remixing music in 2003 and gained wider recognition in 2004 when he collaborated with South African DJ Kent to produce the album "Kentphonik." His radio career started in 2004 at YFM, where he did mixes on various shows before signing with Soul Candi Records in 2006. He then moved to 5FM, hosting two weekly shows: "Ultimix Weekend Edition" on Saturdays, which featured new music and mixes from DJs worldwide, and "My House" on Sundays, dedicated to the latest and most popular house tunes globally. The Saturday show was discontinued in 2014.

Euphonik has performed internationally in cities like New York, Miami, Ibiza, Dubai, and across the UK, Spain, and Africa. He has shared stages with renowned artists such as Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Afrojack, and more. In 2009, he and DJ Fresh created the brand F.Eu, releasing four albums together. They travel annually to Ibiza and Miami for events like the South African Miami Invasion and Ultra Fest Miami. In 2014 and 2015, they headlined Ultra Fest South Africa and captained the "Oh Ship" party cruise from Durban to the Portuguese Island.

In 2013, Euphonik's collaboration with South African DJ Fresh and Nyanda on the track "Cool and Deadly" topped the 5FM Top 40 charts. Since 2006, he has hosted a weekly radio show called "My House" on the national radio station 5FM, airing every Sunday evening. His work has earned several nominations at the South African Music Awards and the Metro FM Music Awards. In 2014, he won his first award, a Metro FM accolade for Best Compilation Album with "For The Love of House Volume 5." That same year, he was nominated for Remix of the Year at the South African Music Awards for his song "Hallelujah Anyway." In 2015, he received two Metro FM Music Award nominations: Best Compilation Album for "For The Love of House Volume 6" and Song of the Year for "Busa."

In 2017, Euphonik began performing under his first name, "Themba," blending techno and house music in his sets and productions. Adopting this new stage name, he collaborated with various South African artists to create original techno and house tracks. His music has been released on labels such as Hot Since '82's Knee Deep in Sound and Yoshitoshi. Themba has shared stages with Black Coffee in South Africa and Ibiza and performed at the Ultra Music Festival in 2018.
