Jerome Galiao, who is popularly known as Dr. Nyasha Mugayi on the South African telenovela "Scandal" on eTV, is a Zimbabwean actor and model. He began his career as a model, gaining fame for his excellent performance. He is well-known for his roles in "Isithembiso," "Scandal," and "Gomora." He also appeared in popular commercials, including the "Play Boy It’s a Planet of Attraction" campaign, which aired from 2017 to 2019.

Early Life

Jerome Galiao was born on June 5, 1984, in Harare, Zimbabwe, making him 40 years old in 2024. He grew up in Ardbennie, Mbare, and dreamed of becoming an actor and model since primary school. He attended Ardbennie Primary School in Harare Province's Mbare Hatfield District before moving to Prince Edward High School, where he completed his matriculation. After high school, he enrolled in a tertiary college to pursue modeling.

Jerome faced so many challenges after moving to South Africa. He struggled to find sustainable acting roles and often worked as a waiter and barman to make ends meet. Despite these hardships, he persevered. During the lockdown, things got even tougher, but he kept pushing forward. His persistence paid off when he landed a role in one of South Africa's most-watched television series, showing that his future in the industry looks promising.

Career

Jerome Galiao began his career as a model before appearing on the Zimbabwean drama series Estate Blues and working as a presenter on the TV show Youth.com. In 2008, he moved to South Africa and appeared in several drama series. He played Ezra in Broken Vows, a police officer in Isithembiso, and a doctor in The River. In 2014 and 2015, he had cameo roles in Zabalaza and Umlilo, respectively.

In 2018, Jerome was cast as a gang member named Frank in Hope. From 2017 to 2019, he played Dos Santos in The Queen, acting alongside Hlomla Dandala. In the same period, he was also cast as Francis in Gomora. In 2021, he appeared in House Wives and Binnelanders. He made his debut on Scandal! eTV as Dr. Nyasha Mugari on December 28, 2021.

Jerome has also been featured in many commercials. He had lead roles in ads for Spar Braai Master, Vodacom Stills, Makro, Standard Bank, and Play Boy Planet of Attraction. He also played supporting roles in Miller Craft and Out insurance ads in 2020.

Apart from acting, Jerome is a fitness trainer and spends much of his time in the gym. He is also a judo martial artist and holds a brown belt.

Personal Life

Jerome Galiao is married to Nerissa Mema, and they have two children, Sindiso Galiao and Keisha Ruvarashe Galiao. The family currently resides in South Africa. Jerome is a Christian and is bilingual, speaking both English and Shona.
