|Lamiez Mischa Miriam Holworthy-Morule (née Holworthy) is a multifaceted South African DJ, television personality, radio presenter, record producer, businesswoman, and philanthropist. She is best known for hosting the SABC 1 music show, "Live AMP."
Early Life and Educational Background
Lamiez Holworthy was born on June 12, 1992, in Eersterust and grew up in the Indian streets of Laudium. She attended Andrew Anthony Primary, followed by Sunnyside Primary, and later Kwaggasrand Primary. She continued her education at Pro Arte Alphen Park from grade 8 to 9 and matriculated from Laudium Secondary in 2009. In 2012, she pursued media studies at Boston Media House.
DJ Lamiez Holworthy began her DJ career in 2010 at just 17 years old. This was a challenging time for her and her family, as her father's business had failed, and her mother had been retrenched.
Career
Lamiez Holworthy began her career as an underground disc jockey in 2010, mastering the art of mixing. By 2013, she had stepped into the limelight, making her first guest appearance on DJ Malwela's show at Tshwane FM. The positive response she received secured her a regular slot every Wednesday. During high school, she gained experience by guest presenting on a show called KMTV on Soweto TV and later became the host of the South African lifestyle show "Living The Dream" on Tshwane TV.
Lamiez almost left the entertainment industry after an audition incident where her car was vandalized and her DJ equipment was stolen. However, after seven years of perseverance, she landed her biggest role on SABC 1’s "Live Amp." She is also known as the official full-time DJ for Sun City Resort and has been the official Miss South Africa DJ for the past two years. In April 2021, she co-hosted the Metro FM dance show "Penthouse Session" alongside DJ and presenter Lulo Cafe. By July 2021, she was the presenter of the 27th South African Music Awards.
In August 2021, Lamiez released her debut single, "Sthokoze," featuring the Lowkeys and Drip Gogo. That year, she was also nominated for Best Amapiano Female DJ Act at the South African Amapiano Awards.
Lamiez is deeply committed to philanthropy and founded the Lamiez Holworthy Foundation. The foundation supports orphanages and safe houses for abused, abandoned, and HIV-infected children, and also provides financial aid and study materials for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. In October 2021, she was honored at the South African Heroines Awards for her philanthropic work.
Personal Life
Lamiez Holworthy is married to South African rapper Khuli Chana. Through their marriage, she became a stepmother to Khuli's daughter from a previous relationship.
