Early Life
Bandile and Banele Mbere, known as Major League DJz, were born on January 3, 1991, in Boston, USA. They moved to South Africa after apartheid, where their father, a South African Ambassador and pianist, influenced their early love for music. By age 29 in 2020, they had carved a niche in the music scene. Their childhood was steeped in music, playing the piano in primary school and diving into DJing and production after high school. Despite their mother’s concerns about the music industry's harsh realities, they pursued their passion.
The twins have played alongside both local and international artists, performing at top clubs and events across South Africa. Their journey wasn’t without challenges, as they lost their father to a heart attack at a young age. Despite this, they chose not to attend university and instead focused on building their music career, staying true to their early dreams and influences.
Career
The Major League DJz, consisting of twin brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere, started their music career immediately after secondary school. They quickly gained a reputation as a skilled DJ duo known for their electrifying live performances. In 2006, they decided to take their music to a professional level, leading them to host events and after-parties. They have hosted parties for renowned artists such as 50 Cent, Akon, and Fat Joe, and have shared the stage with famous DJs like DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Roger Goode, DJ Trauma, DJ Drama, and DJ Woo Kid. They have also performed alongside international stars like Kanye West and Kid Cudi.
The twins are now prominent figures in the "New Age Kwaito" music scene. They are known for their popular events called "Major League Gardens," which feature live hip-hop and house music performances by various artists. Since 2016, they have been part of the Mabala Noise recording label, introduced to them by their friend and collaborator, Riky Rick. This label facilitated collaborations with artists such as Anatii and Cassper Nyovest, further enhancing their reputation.
In 2008, they formed the music group Major League DJz. Their work with other DJs, including DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Roger Goode, DJ Trauma, DJ Drama, and DJ Woo Kid, solidified their status as leaders of the New Age Kwaito movement. They also anchor the Major League Gardens event, which has played a significant role in their rise to fame.

Bandile Mbere from Major League DJz revealed that he had been dating well-known female rapper Nadia Nakai since 2018, although they initially kept their relationship under wraps, presenting it as a friendship. Later, Bandile openly confirmed their dating status in an interview with TsishaLive.
