Their strong synergy has sparked speculation about their relationship beyond the music industry, but both have remained private about their personal connection.
Myztro gained prominence following the release of tracks like 'Emcimbini', 'Dipatje tsa Felo', and '66'. The song '66' was certified multi-platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).
Early Life and Education
Tshiamiso Sekowe, better known as Myztro, was born and raised in Soshanguve, Pretoria. Growing up in a musically inclined environment greatly influenced his passion for music. His father was a jazz enthusiast, and Myztro would often listen to jazz music at home. At just 10 years old, he discovered his love for music while playing the drums and piano at church. He was particularly inspired by the group Uhuru, which included members Xelimpilo, DJ Maphorisa, and DJ Clap.
Myztro completed his matriculation at Reitumetse High School and went on to study Mathematics at Tshwane University of Technology, where he excelled. However, his burgeoning interest in music led him to take on DJ gigs while in school. The demand for his DJ services became so overwhelming that he eventually decided to drop out and pursue a career in music full-time.
Career
In 2014, Myztro officially began his career as a DJ and music producer. Alongside his passion for music, he also enjoys dancing and formed a dance group called "Versateez," which included Thulani Thosago and Goerge Letwalo.
Myztro's breakthrough came with the release of hit tracks like 'Emcimbini,' 'Dipatje tsa Felo,' and '66,' with '66' earning Multi-Platinum certification by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). These tracks highlighted his ability to bring fresh energy to amapiano rhythms, captivating audiences across the nation. In 2022, he released 'Tobetsa Remake,' which was considered by many to be the festive season's song of the year.
Beyond his DJ skills, Myztro is a talented producer who enjoys exploring different sounds and pushing creative boundaries. Before gaining widespread recognition online, he released an EP titled '031 Nkwari' under DJ Maphorisa's New Money Gang music label. The EP, which featured tracks like 'Rekere,' saw him collaborating with artists such as Felo Le Tee and Mellow & Sleazy. It is reported that the catchy hook of 'Rekere' was inspired by DJ Hu Nose's hit track, 'Voroso ke Voroso,' from the 2000s.
In recent years, as amapiano music rose to prominence, Myztro began to shift towards the genre, establishing himself initially as a producer and eventually lending his voice to various piano tracks. Some notable songs he has featured on include 'Emcimbini,' where he sang alongside Aymos, and he has closely worked with artists like Sha Sha, Kabza De Small, and DJ Maphorisa, producing several songs together.
It is reported that Myztro is one of the artists working to blend Bacardi and amapiano music, alongside artists like Vusi Ma R5 and a few others. In an interview, he mentioned that, coming from a township in Pretoria, he aims to make the sound of Bacardi by blending it with amapiano tunes. To achieve this, he is collaborating with hardcore Bacardi artists such as Vusi Ma R5 and Phindi Maphendula.
