Tehn Diamond - Biography, Career, Awards and Albums

Tendai Ryan Nguni, born January 17, 1985, is a Zimbabwean rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor from Harare. He is known by his stage name Tehn Diamond or Tehn. Nguni is a member of the hip-hop collective Few Kings, with whom he has released an album.

He entered the music industry on January 1, 2017, with his debut album *A Few Good Poems*. Later that year, he released *The Feeling Ain't Fair* (or #TFAF2) in collaboration with Jnr Brown and Take Fizzo. Tehn Diamond also stars in *Cook Off*, which is Zimbabwe's first feature film available on Netflix.

Early Life

Tehn Diamond, now 39 years old, was born to Sylvester Nguni, a politician and caregiver. He has two sisters and one brother. Raised in the gated community of Borrowdale Brooke in Harare, Zimbabwe, he attended St George's College. Tehn initially pursued a Finance degree in Brisbane, Australia, but decided to shift his focus to music, discontinuing his studies.

In 2008, the Federal Government of Australia revoked student visas for nine children of senior members of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's regime, including Tehn Diamond.

Career

After relocating to Singapore, Tehn Diamond explored music and performed over 800 live shows there. He later returned to Zimbabwe, where he established permanent residence.

Tehn Diamond's career began with the release of two mixtapes: *Student of the Game: Higher Learning* in 2008 and *Student of the Game: Boys Will Be Boys* in 2010. These mixtapes gained him significant attention and a growing fan base. His work earned him the Best Video accolade at the National Arts Awards in 2012.

In December 2014, he toured extensively across Zimbabwe, culminating in a show in Bulawayo hosted by Vault Cosmetics. Tehn Diamond has collaborated with various Zimbabwean artists, including the tribal house group The Djembe Monks. He also headlined Africa's biggest reality TV show, Big Brother.

His song "Happy," featuring Jnr Brown, was widely played on major radio stations like Star FM and Power FM and was nominated for Best Song of the Year at the Zim Hip Hop Awards. On Valentine's Day 2015, Tehn Diamond opened for Cassper Nyovest at 1+1 Long Cheng Plaza in Harare, receiving acclaim from both fans and Nyovest.
